A developing area

The Project is located in an expansion zone of the city of Barranquilla, where numerous social housing and infrastructure projects will be developed over the next few years to meet the future needs of an important population that will inhabit this area. This specific project consists of 400 housing units and common areas within the complex.

A contemporary design that calls for dignity

Given the limited budget had for each home and knowing the purchasing power of the people who would buy them, their lifestyle and their needs, the challenge was to develop a very efficient design that would provide comfortable and sufficient spaces but at the same time transmit dignity. For this, a contemporary house concept was designed, with well-defined, orthogonal volumes and with some cantilevers, very different to the traditional gable roof scheme. On the other hand, the design proposes a narrow layout for the house, illuminated through internal patios, allowing better control of the visuals between neighbors and exceptional temperature control, especially in this region where there are very high temperatures all over the year.

Construction system

Materiality

Additionally, in order to be able to offer more space for each housing unit, it is decided to implement a construction system in Tilt-Up. This system, although it was more expensive at first, saves time and reprocessing, as it is prefabricated and partially industrialized.
