The Puerto Berrío-Medellín-Amagá railway project

The PuertoBerrío-Medellín-Amagá railway project, called Ferrocarril de Antioquia (FerroQUIA), exposes the rehabilitation of the existing PuertoBerrío-Medellín-Amagá corridor, belonging to the corridor of the National Rail Network known as Ferrocarril de Antioquia, starting from the port area of Puerto Berrío, allowing the rail connection with the Central System (La Dorada-Chiriguaná ), the logistical interconnection with said port area and the Barranquilla port area. This line also allows direct communication by rail from the ports of San ta Marta, Barranquilla, and Bogotá

The railway connecting the two cities has been designed with 24 stations

The projected route has a total length of 257 km, and a total of 24 stations. Yardic trail has been planned (914 mm track gauge between inner rail faces) or dual (standard/yards) and 115 lb/yd rail. The generic cross-section is a single track, with a platform width of 7.00 meters; the stations have all been designed with double track, the center distance of 4.00 meters, and 1,500 meters of net length.

Both Freight and passenger transport will use the railway line

The projected line will be suitable for freight traffic (merchandise) and for passenger traffic. For this reason, a maximum slope of 10 thousandths (1.00%) and a reference speed of the geometric design of 200 km / h have been considered in the design, which will allow competitive travel times between the cities of Amagá, Puerto Berrío and Medellín.
