Project completed: new Pumarejo Bridge over Magdalena river in Colombia

The new bridge over the Magdalena, the object of the project, has a total length of 2,270 meters, and includes a cable-stayed section of 690 meters in total length, made up of a central span of 380 meters of free span –which welcomes the new navigable canal. - and two compensation spans of 155 meters of light. The access sections to the cable-stayed span are resolved by successive spans of 70 meters of light.

At the point where the bridge is located, the Magdalena River has a total width of 1,190 meters.

The gauge for river navigation provided by the new bridge is 45 meters, and the tower piers of the cable-stayed section reach a height above foundations of 139 meters.

The deck of the cable-stayed section has a width of 38.50 meters, and houses a dual carriageway for road traffic, sidewalks and cycle-route, for pedestrian and cyclist traffic. 

The project had a budget of 300.000.000,00 € which has a road with one lane in each direction of circulation, and on the river it provides a navigable channel of 140 meters wide free between supports and 16 meters of fluvial gauge; This bridge has become obsolete due to the development experienced by the port of Barranquilla and will be demolished after the construction of the new bridge
