The Poyo Ravine basin

The Poyo Ravine basin, throughout the years, has suffered from numerous floods, causing important economic and human damages. This is why it appeared the need to study the possible performances for the protection against these extreme hydrologic phenomena, reducing the risk of floods. The affected area has an important and increasing human activity consequence of the proximity of the urban area of Valencia.

Proposed solution

The proposed solution cover a set of performances of restoration that includes reforestations, hydrologic techniques, preventive vegetative treatments against forest fires and conditioning and improvement of the road net This project favors the creation and conservation of the natural ecosystems, improving the environment and the environmental and landscape quality of these forests, simultaneously that collaborate in the recharges of aquifers and in the reduction of the downstream consequences caused by Mediterranean storms.

Vegetation

In general, the mountain presents a cover of bushes after the consequences of the forest fires, these bushes are variable in height and density, with natural regeneration of the Pinus halepensis in some places and artificial repopulation in others.
